Sharing Responsibility on the Journey of Faith

The Parish Pastoral Council aims to promote a parish with Jesus at the centre of its mission; making welcome searchers and believers. We strive to reach out to all in our community, sharing responsibility on the journey of faith.

Notices

ASSUMPTION PARISH, BALLYFERMOT, D10 – IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the latest Government, HSE and Diocesan directives we have decided, with immediate effect, to cancel all Masses at Assumption Parish Church, apart from a 7am Mass every morning, and Funeral Masses as they may arise.

We’ve already been having a 7am, Monday to Friday, during Lent. We will extend it now to Saturday and Sunday. This Mass will be available live, via our webcam at www.assumptionballyfermot.ie, and will also be recorded so it can be viewed later in the day.

This 7am will be the only public Mass, apart from Funeral Masses, celebrated in Assumption until further notice. Remember, there is no obligation for anyone to attend Sunday Mass during the virus crisis.

Attendance at Weddings, Baptisms, and, as difficult as it may be, at Funeral Masses, should be restricted to close family and some few, very close, friends.  Again, funerals can be viewed live via our webcam at www.assumptionballyfermot.ie.

The church will be open throughout most days, up until 4pm, for people to come and pray, or light a candle. The Parish Lotto, and all collections, are suspended too.

Other parishes may have other arrangements.  These, we believe, are best for us.  Let’s mind each other and pray for each other.

Confirmation Ceremony Cancelled

Due to the Covid19 virus, and following the announcement of An Taoiseach this morning, we deeply regret the need to cancel tomorrow’s (Friday, March 13th) celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation in Assumption Parish. We regret the real inconvenience this will cause, not least the upset and disappointment to the children. We look forward to celebrating the sacrament at a future, appropriate date. Meanwhile, let’s look after each other at this difficult time.

Covid19 / Corona Virus Advice

On the advice of the HSE, and Dublin Diocese, the following directives have come into immediate effect with regard to preventing the spread of the Corona Virus;

  • Until further notice there will be no Holy Water in the fonts at the doors of the church. You are still encouraged to bless yourself as you enter and leave the Church.
  • Until further notice there will be no shaking of hands at the Sign of Peace. Please choose an alternative like a smile, a bow, a wave, or just words.
  • Until further notice Holy Communion will be given only on the hand, not on the tongue, and Holy Communion will not be shared from the chalice. If you have a coeliac condition, please ask the minister for a coeliac host.
  • People are encouraged to wash their hands whenever possible.

If you are unwell, please stay at home and mind yourself. There is no obligation for anyone to attend Sunday Mass when unwell. The priority should be to get yourself back to full health again.

Remember that everything that happens in Assumption Church can be seen and heard, live, via our Parish Webcam.  Just click on the ‘Parish Webcam’ or ‘View Our Webcam’ buttons anywhere on this page.
